What we want to see:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law plus a Master’s degree (LL.M. or equivalent) at minimum; bar admission a plus but not always required depending on jurisdiction
- 5-8 years of professional legal experience, preferably as in-house counsel in the IT or game development industry;
- 2–5+ years of experience in compliance, or regulatory roles — ideally in gaming, tech, or digital entertainment
- Familiarity with gaming-specific legal issues: loot boxes, virtual goods, EULAs, age ratings, platform policies (Apple/Google)
- Experience with, or strong interest in, IP enforcement, cybercrime-adjacent legal matters, or anti-fraud/anti-cheat cooperation
- Experience working with law enforcement or regulatory bodies
- Working knowledge of data protection frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Excellent drafting skills — cease-and-desist letters, contracts, policy documents
- Comfortable working with technical teams (security, anti-cheat, engineering) and translating technical findings into legal action
- Strong analytical mind, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive/confidential matters
- Fluent Russian and English; additional languages a plus
What you will be doing:
Regulatory & Compliance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable gaming, consumer protection, and age-rating regulations across relevant jurisdictions (EU, US, UK, APAC, etc.)
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable EU directives, regulations (DSA, DMA, EU AI act, etc.)
- Monitor and ensure compliance with open-source software licensing obligations and usage restrictions (e.g., attribution, copyleft restrictions, third-party license audits),
- Review and update Terms of Service, EULAs, Privacy Policies, and in-game purchase terms accordingly
- Support App Store / Google Play policy compliance and respond to platform compliance inquiries
- Review and approve various asset license terms,
- Track evolving legislation on mobile and video games industry
- Pre- /Judicial Support
- Provide pre-judicial and judicial support in cases involving cheaters, hackers, botters, RMT (real-money trading) operators, and other bad actors exploiting the game
- Draft and send cease-and-desist letters, DMCA/IP takedown notices, and warning communications to individuals or entities violating ToS or applicable law
- Coordinate with external counsel and law enforcement on escalated cases (large-scale cheat distribution, server intrusion, account theft, DDoS extortion, etc.)
- Prepare evidence packages, incident documentation, and witness statements in cooperation with relevant teams for litigation or regulatory complaints
- Represent the company’s interests in settlement negotiations, mediation, or court proceedings related to cheating/hacking incidents
- Liaise with third-party anti-cheat vendors and cybersecurity teams to align legal strategy with technical enforcement
- Support with other judicial matters
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Advise Product and Live Ops teams on legal risk for new features, monetization mechanics, and events
- Train internal teams on compliance basics and escalation procedures
- Draft and maintain internal compliance documentation, policies, and risk registers
